STEPHANIE WILLER
Since childhood, doodling has been my constant companion-sketches filled the corners of my notebooks and colors danced through my daydreams. Although I’ve always loved to draw, my true passion for art blossomed about a decade ago when I first picked up a paintbrush. Painting quickly became more than a past time; it was pure magic. I learned by doing, experimenting on my own, and discovered that acrylic paint was the medium that let my stories come alive, each layer pulling me deeper into the present, letting everything else fade away.
Darrell E. Rose
A master percussionist and a truly gifted and seasoned artist, Darrell E. Rose is the consummate musician/artist
Darrell, like many of us, discovered himself during his college years. He discovered the root of his heritage-African Drumming; but his journey of music and art had just begun.
His lifetime of study under the tutelage of world renowned masters such as Mor Thiam and Abdou Kunta, both of Senegal, and Babatunde Olatunji of Nigeria, eventually led to Darrell joining Bob Marley’s iconic reggae group, “The Wailers”. Throughout his years as a master percussionist, Darrell has touched several continents with his rhythmic stylings. His work on behalf of the US State Department is critically acclaimed in several West African countries, including Guinea and Sierra Leone.
Some of his fondest memories are of the times he has spent playing alongside some of the greatest musicians of our time. Artists like Taj Mahal, Dave Matthews, John Lee Hooker and Odetta have influenced Darrell along the way.
Becoming a ‘master drummer’ meant passing down the rhythms of the drum. Sharing with our future generations became a priority for Darrell Rose. Now, several thousand students along with several prestigious awards later; you’ll start to find “Dr. D” driving up and down our back roads, traveling from school to school, just to share this gift with our children.
….or you may find him licked away in his studio creating a new painting.
